I grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin, a suburban town located about 15 miles west of Milwaukee.  Before coming to Syracuse University to work on my PhD in economics I earned my bachelors degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

I spent a year away from Syracuse to work as a staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers in Washington, D.C.  My year at the CEA gave me the unique opportunity to see the policy making process from the inside and to gain perspective on how economists are part of that process.  It was a great experience to work with lots of smart and talented colleagues, especially the Tax Team, and being part of the Executive Office of the President came with a few unexpected perks (picure1, picture2).

I enjoy playing racquetball and softball, but I'm more of a sports fan than an athlete.  My favorite sport to watch is baseball, and the Milwaukee Brewers are my favorite team.
