History 211

Week 15

Make sure you read through Chapter 7 in Zophy; there is a lot of useful information in that chapter which should help you prepare  your outlines. Just peruse Chapters 8 and 9.

For section this week, please read Machiavelli's Mandragola (if you already haven't) and The Prince. I would also like you to read a letter which Machiavelli wrote describing a day in his life as he was writing The Prince

Machiavelli's Letter

The review session will be this Saturday, 11 December, at 7:30 pm in HL 107. Come prepared with outlines and questions. I am not simply going to feed you the answers.

No Quiz.

No email is required this week. You've all kept up with the assignment pretty well this semester so let's give it a rest. But feel to free to write to me if you have questions about Machiavelli or your exam outlines.

NOTE: I'll be glad to make a CD of songs from the Middle Ages or the Renaissance (or both) for anyone who is interested. Just give me a CD-R (which you can buy from the Orange Bookstore for a few dollars) and I'll  make a disk with of some of my favorite songs on it. Or, let me know what what kind of instruments or music you like and I'll try to accommodate you. I have a pretty extensive collection.

Dean Schuler submitted this song to me as one which represents YOUR generation. It's a techno version of Carmina Burana. I really don't see the connection, but Dean tells me otherwise. Maybe I'm just too old to understand you youngsters. You can download either an abridged or the full version. They are in MP3 format.

(They will be available in a day or two.)
