Week 9 |
General
Remember your papers are due this Monday in lecture. I will return your exams to you in section this week and give you a mid-semester grade. That grade is really an evaluation of your performance thus far in this course. I'll also suggest what you need to do to improve your grade and performance. In general you all need to speak up more in section and not be so afraid of being wrong. I know who is prepared for class and who participates regularly; poor performance will adversely affect your final grade.
Please begin Chapter 5 in Koenigsberger and The Romance of Tristan. Don't worry, I told Pennington that you hadn't formally been assigned the book. (Some of you were concerned about that because he assumed in the last lecture that you all had read it). I know that you're pressed for time this week so do your best. And remember: I am no longer going to outline/note the chapters for you or give you outlines for the exam questions. It's now up to you.
Also, those of you with AOL accounts will have to send email messages to me via your Syracuse account if you want a response. For some reason AOL blocks my messages to you.
Quiz
No quiz this week. However, we will resume the quizzes next week. I hope you noticed that just about all the IDs on the exam were items that I asked you to prepare for the quizzes. Not bad, eh?
Email Assignment
It's your turn to evaluate me and our section. Please let me know what you like and don't like about it, and what I can do to make our meetings more useful to you. You now know how I run things. What would you like to see changed? Did you feel adequately prepared for the exam and your paper? I myself am not always satisfied with the way things go in section. Let me know what's on your mind. I have thick skin, so you won't offend me, even you tell me that you don't like me or the way I dress or anything negative at all.
If you're interested: I was a paratrooper in the army. Here are some pictures of what it's like to jump out of an airplane and a helicopter. My friend actually took these pictures. Sorry, the quality isn't that good. Click here to view them.
