Faculty and students Spotlight

Through this section you will learn many things about Maxwell history reading the interviews given by Professors, current and former students. These interviews will have a journalistic style, dynamic and direct. We have already interviewed the Executive Director of the International Relations Program, Matt Bonham, and the Associate Director of the Executive Education Program, Catherine Gerard and the Emeritus Professor Neil Katz.

Jennifer Potter Hayes
Jeniffer Potter Hayes is enthusiastic about Maxwell's expanding
internationalism and considers that the school combines both career and alumni services under one umbrella, as a model that makes lots of sense.

Professor Jeffrey Straussman
Interview with professor: Professor Jeffrey Straussman joined Syracuse University as a faculty in 1979. In 1975 he earned a PhD in Political Science from the City University of New York and before that, he completed an MA at Hunter College in the same city. “The typical public administration student is interested in public affairs and wants to make a difference in some meaningful way.”

Dean Mitchel B. Wallerstein
Interview with dean: Mitchel B. Wallerstein. “The impetus to set up the Maxwell School 82 years ago was the movement in the United States for government reform.  The government at that time was corrupt with a lot of cronyism, which we are seeing again today and in other governments as well”.

John Mathiason
Interview with professor: John Mathiason. For most officials, regardless of whether they deal with foreign affairs or domestic policy, interaction with international organizations will be a normal and inevitable part of their work".

Matt Bonham

Interview with professor Matt Bonham: “International affairs are speeding up, and we find ourselves now in a very different environment- one that is complex and based increasingly on networks.”

Neil Katz

Interview with professor Neil Katz: “Our Graduates are establishing a leadership and shaping the field of Conflict Resolution in USA”
