Biography
Michael Eriksen graduated in Spring of 2008 with a Ph.D. in Economics at Syracuse University and will be an Assistant Professor next year at the University of Georgia.  His research and teaching interests are in real estate, urban economics, and public finance.  The first part of Michael's dissertation analyzes the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program, the nation's largest source of affordable housing for low-income households.  The second part of his dissertation uses a randomized field experiment to test the economic rationales behind Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and asset development for low-income households.  His dissertation was funded in part by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.  In addition to his academic work, Michael serves as the Treasurer for the National Consumers League, a consumer safety, education, and advocacy 501(c)(3) status  organization located in Washington, DC. He received a Master's Degree in Economics from Syracuse University in 2006 and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Biology from Gonzaga University in 2003.
