SATSA is an international, interdisciplinary student association dedicated to the critical analysis of terrorism, counterterrorism policy, and national and international security issues.

SATSA and its chapters promote dialogue and critical engagement among students, faculty, and outside experts by organizing scholarly forums such as conferences and debates, by offering their members opportunities to receive feedback on papers or projects, and by providing an informal setting in which students can learn more about the issues that interest them. SATSA will help students make meaningful contributions both to their respective fields of study and to the development and refinement of relevant programs at colleges and universities around the world.

Student Officers

Joseph Popcun
President
Joseph Popcun is currently the president of the Student Association on Terrorism and Security Analysis (SATSA) and is a research assistant with the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism (INSCT) at Syracuse University. Joseph has performed over 500 hours of volunteer research on several projects this summer and fall, most of which were on a joint venture concerning innovation in direct aid with the Post-Conflict Reconstruction team at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. This research complements the international relations degree he expects to complete in May 2010. Primarily, Joseph's academic concentration has been security and diplomacy issues and the Middle East.  He seeks to provide an articulate, innovative approach to national security topics by presenting contemporary analysis of developing situations and by garnering support for the field of study from both practitioners and academics.
